The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has developed this personal health and hygiene manual to promote practices and behaviours that can help prevent food staff from preventing the transmission of viruses and bacteria to food. It provides information in a question-and-answer format that food company management and food company staff can use to prevent the spread of disease. On September 1, 2012, the State of North Carolina adopted new food rules based on the 2009 FDA Food Code. These rules are based on controlling the five main risk factors related to staff behaviour and preparation practices in retail establishments and food establishments to contribute to food-related diseases: we provide dental services for low-income children and adults at reduced rates; evaluations of the issuance of eWIC cards to women, infants and children, pregnant, lactating or not; and to inform about healthy foods that can be purchased with eWIC cards. The Food Code addresses the control of risk factors and identifies five important public health measures to protect consumer health. These interventions include demonstrating knowledge, controlling employees` health, controlling hands as a vehicle of contamination, time and temperature parameters for pathogen control and advising consumers.
